Clinical Utility of Cardiac Biomarkers
About This Course
This webinar will help the general practitioner incorporate cardiac biomarkers into their practice and review applicable literature regarding these tests. Dr. Derek Hanes will begin with a brief review of the cardiac biomarkers available for testing and their physiologic properties to best understand under what conditions these markers may become elevated. This will be followed by a review of current literature, with particular emphasis on how evidence-based medicine can help guide when cardiac biomarkers can be helpful. Dr. Hanes will also review additional disease processes that can affect biomarkers, potentially requiring additional diagnostics. Viewers will leave with a better understanding of when cardiac biomarkers can be helpful in both respiratory and cardiac patients and how to determine when and what additional diagnostics and follow-up are appropriate if abnormal results are obtained.
