Heartworm Treatment: Providing a Spectrum of Care to Heartworm-Positive Patients

Although there are well-established heartworm disease treatment guidelines, management strategies sometimes need to be tailored to the patient’s needs and client’s resources. In this webinar, Dr. Tom Nelson, Dr. Marisa Ames, and Dr. Uri Donnett will discuss heartworm case management from, respectively, a general practice, specialty practice, and animal shelter perspective. The pros and cons of different management options and ways to maximize treatment efficacy while working within available resources will be presented through a case-based discussion. The speakers will also discuss treatment of common complications of heartworm disease, the use of prevention strategies in heartworm-positive dogs, and the importance of limiting the spread of disease.
