About This Course

This webinar will introduce the veterinary practitioner to a novel combination product of medetomidine and vatinoxan hydrochlorides injection (Zenalpha®). Veterinary anesthesiologist Dr. Carolyn McKune from Mythos Veterinary LLC will review the pharmacology of alpha-2 agonists and vatinoxan, the role of peripheral antagonists, and the labeled indications for Zenalpha. Attendees will discover its unique effects on the cardiovascular system, onset time and duration, and effects on blood glucose. The presentation will conclude with why it is not for use in cats, its effect on the absorption of other drugs, and the impacts peripheral reversal has on analgesia. Case examples will be provided so veterinarians can conceptualize how this drug can fit into their workflow.
